My Back Office App
Lead Visual Designer
My Back Office app is the mobile version of Business Center 2.0. Business Center 2.0 is a web application that helps freelancers and independent contractors with their back office tasks such as payroll, invoice, expenses and work tracking. With the advantage of mobility, My Back Office app is focusing on the idea of quick and convenient with functions such as time-tracking, expenses and payroll.
As a lead visual designer for this project, I’m responsible for designing the high fidelity mockups: The first step is brainstorm. The goal is to understand the vision of the product from steak holders and nail down the keywords for the product. In this scenario, the key words are “easy to use”. “effort-less”, “modern” and “fast”.
The next step, I will create a mood board to capture the fleeting feelings and transform the floating keywords into actual visual elements. With collaboration with UX designers and product manager, I use wireframes which leaves a lot of room for visual designers's own interpretation and exploration as a blueprint and turn them into lively high fidelity mockups. After three rounds of concepts and drafts, the design gets finalized and the final output is a high-fidelity mockup.
Last step, if needed, we will do another round of user testing with final mockups to find out what works and what’s not. The style guide and detailed specs are distilled from the design and serve as a reference for the front-end developers.
